 You only have a gambling addiction if you spend more on gambling than you can afford. Even if you are rich and can afford to gamble with heavy losses you could have a gambling addiction problem. Regardless of whether you gamble once a month or within your means other factors that create negativity in your life could be a sign of a gambling addiction.
You can’t get help for a gambling addiction unless you really want to. Everyone who is addicted to gambling will gain from treatment even if they don’t really want it.
 You should always pay off debts that a gambler racks up. If you pay off a compulsive gamblers debts they will never learn from their actions and seek treatment. A person with a gambling addiction needs to admit it before they can start treatment so in paying off their debts you are not giving them any reason to quit.
It is important to make your gambling addicted partner or spouse comfortable when they are getting treatment for their addiction so that they have a less stressful ride. It is not the responsibility of a partner or spouse to take responsibility for a gambling addict as it is not them who are behaving badly.
